How we work (and play!)
Adventure doesn’t mean scary. It means we’ll go somewhere memorable by kayak, either on a short day trip, a one-night overnight, or on a multi-day expedition. Examples range from beginner level introductions to kayaking short trips, through longer trips we do throughout the year at a variety of skill levels.
Nature is all around us. Whether it’s a planned nature experience or skills session, you are bound to see some interesting wildlife. Nature education is a key feature on all of our trips and expeditions. We emphasize Florida Master Naturalist learnings and Leave No Trace outdoor ethics.
Training means ACA-certified sea kayak technical skills experiences. We have offerings for novices, beginners, intermediates and advanced paddlers. We host shore-based classroom instruction and on-water practical experiences. Formal skills assessments and instructor development opportunities are also available. Outdoor leadership skill outcomes are prioritized.
What does “ANT” really mean?
We offer experiences in three categories: Adventure, Nature, and Training. All of our experiences have some of each, though usually one category takes a bigger role, depending on the design of the program.
What about gear? We are focused on traditional style sit-inside touring kayaks. You can bring your own kayak and gear and we’ll help you master it. If you are traveling and don’t have your equipment with you, or if you’re just having a fun day out and don’t own kayak gear, we can support you. We have equipment to support short experiences and workshops and we continue to acquire more to allow us to offer fully outfitted trips and expeditions in the future.
The Basics
Bespoke is a term more often found in the UK, but it simply means we can put together a custom experience for you outside of our scheduled offerings.
Bespoke adventure? We are always looking for new places to paddle. Need an experienced guide or qualified assistant for your expedition? See a trip on the calendar you want to do, but your schedule doesn’t fit? Let’s talk about trip planning!
Bespoke nature? Do you have a specific nature learning goal? Maybe there is a particular species of flora or fauna you want to find while traveling by kayak? As a Florida Master Naturalist, dreaming stargazer and sometimes ‘bird-nerd’ I’d love to take you to your destination.
Bespoke training? If you want kayak training and don’t see a class you need on our schedule, we can help. Unless we’re on the water or traveling, we can often meet your goals right away. Want to learn how to roll? That’s one of our specialties! Want to learn how to navigate? We’ll help you stay found! Getting ready for your instructor certification workshop or exam? We will get you ready, plus we co-instruct with certified instructor trainers whose workshops you can attend with us. Whatever your training goals, we can help meet them.
